She famously used to hold annual tea parties at their family home in Kincasslagh, Co Donegal, which often attracted thousands of fans as Daniel regaled them with songs. She died in 2014 at the age of 94 and is buried with his father at St Mary'due south cemetery in Belcruit. He visits their grave as often as he can.

He has sold more 15 million records, won multiple awards and, 20 years ago, received an honorary MBE. "But if it came upward again that nosotros could do a new one, we probably would. Information technology was skilful fun and people seemed to like information technology. "We're looking forward to it. This is our third attempt at this show. Information technology was meant to happen in 2020 and so 2021, so now it'southward 2022, we're really looking forward to getting back to doing the shows. It'southward the home crowd and at that place's always a great atmosphere," he says.
Daniel is well used to taking breaks in his hectic schedule, so was able to conform chop-chop to the sudden quiet of lockdown.
"It wasn't such a shock to me," he says. "I'd be used to having a calendar month or ii where I wouldn't do anything and that was extended into over a year and a one-half. Just I really feel for the younger singers who are starting out now. They're just getting themselves established and it's hard on them.
"I'll go back out and people will know who I am, but the younger ones who are getting themselves going, it's difficult for them to get-go now."
